Game 3: Triple Play and salvaging a series
Nice to see the Tribe avoid the sweep to start a season. You never want to start in a hole, and while it still is so early you have to appreciate the ballgame this Indians team had themselves yesterday.
Now, obviously the highlight was the triple play, and rightfully so – you just don’t see those everyday. But what I took away most from this game was knowing that all might not be lost before it starts with out starting pitching. Masterson had himself a game, walking only 2 and giving up one earned. Granted, he didn’t have his strikeout pitch working, but the beauty of that is is that you don’t need it when you’re getting ground ball after ground ball.
It was an interesting series, for sure, and despite only taking a game I think the Tribe showed a lot of potential moving forward. I keep imaging a healthy Sizemore in this lineup and I really feel they could surprise a lot of people with what they can accomplish.
So with the off day today, the Tribe get ready for a 3-game series against the Red Sox at home. The Sox are off to a rough start, so look for them to play hungry this week vs the Indians.
Game 4 is tomorrow night at 7:05PM at Progressive Field. Josh Beckett will take the hill for the Sox, while Josh Tomlin will do the hurling for Cleveland.
